About Wichita Guitar Works

Chris Glamann and Curt Mitchell met in the 1980s while playing in local area bands in and around Wichita, Kansas. Chris went on to open his own full line music store, GMI Music & Sound, and Curt, by then a veteran guitar retailer, joined the staff. After more than ten years in business, they shut the doors at GMI to pursue other interests. Chris managed a Mastercraft ski boat dealership, while Curt began a career as a singer/songwriter and freelance hobo.

For years thereafter, they continued to menace one another with the threat of opening a boutique-style guitar shop specializing in custom-built and hard-to-find guitars, amps, and stomp boxes. In July of 2012, that dream finally came true when they decided it was time to quit talking about it and do it. Joining forces, they opened Wichita Guitar Works.

Chris and Curt are music geeks at heart, and their guitar shop has taken on the look and feel of a community center for local musicians.
